FAQ's
Frequently asked questions
- How much grant funding can I apply for?
The amount of grant funding is determined by the type of project, the size of the enterprise and the achievements that will result from the project once it is completed.
The average grant is £10,000 and is normally no more than 50% of the project cost. In certain circumstances, we can only provide up to 20% funding.
We do not offer funding towards a fundraising target and you must not use any RDPE grant offer to secure other public funding.
- Do you give us the funds to pay for the project?
You must be able to afford to pay for your project in advance of claiming any grant. This is called 'bank rolling'. We pay grant against agreed claims. You need to provide the original invoices, copies of cheques, bank payments, bank statement, receipts and evidence that you own the items.
- Can I apply for items that I have already purchased or need to purchase before I apply?
We do not fund anything that you have already purchased or you intend to purchase prior to our issuing a contract. You may be advised to describe any investment that you have already made in your business or project plan. This helps the panel to consider the wider project investment and plan. We call this leverage.
You can apply at any time by following the process on our how to apply page. The panel meets every four weeks to consider proposals. You can check the dates by calling us on 01962 848 588.
Please note that we operate a closing date process to allow for application's to be appraised and for panel members to review the documentation. The closing date is always a calendar month before the panel meeting.
- Can someone help me with the forms?
We provide workshops where you can learn more about the grant, what we fund, how to apply and what we will need to know about your project. you can book a place by contacting Jo Anderson on 01962 848 311 or JoAnderson@Winchester.gov.uk
- Where does the money come from?
The funding is provided via the Rural Development Programme for England. The money comes from the European Commission's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and is match funded by Defra (Department for Farming and Rural Affairs).
- How do I know if I can apply?
Please call us and we will happily discuss your plans and let you know if you fit the criteria.
