Blackmoor Estates Ltd

Blackmoor Apples nursery cold storeThis project received funding from RDPE to install a cold store. The store holds bare root tree stock over winter months. This project is categorised as farm diversification which enables facilitation of agricultural development and diversification.

This project has added life span and improved stock rotation for one of the County's top fruit tree production nurseries. Blackmoor apples are produced on Blackmoor Estate which is a family-run farm located near Selborne in Hampshire and is best known for its long experience of growing both traditional and new varieties of English apples, pears and plums.

The annual Apple Tasting Day, which has been running for 40 years, attracts several thousand apple enthusiasts.

As well as the fruit enterprises the estate also operates a dairy and is involved in a number of environmental stewardship schemes for wildlife conservation.

The estate has an active programme for educational visits.
