Silkstead Farm Wood Recycling
The Silkstead Farm Wood Recycling Project, near Hursley, was awarded just under £20,000 of LEADER funding. The business, called Green Otter Compost, spent the money on a Weighbridge in order to make the business more efficient in calculating how much wood is being sold.
Recognising a shortage of outlets for green and wood waste, Mr. Venn, of Silkstead Farm, set up a business to reduce landfill, reduce chemical fertilizer and produce renewable energy for power stations.
As the project provides economical and environmental benefits to this rural area LEADER was able to provide the grant awarded.
Mr Venn has commented:
"I have now received the grant money for which I am most grateful. I wished to write and thank you for the trouble you have both taken in all the arrangements and form filling."
